What is gamification?

Gamification, or gameful design, is all about motivational design. It's the process of finding the fun and challenge in everyday activities, and framing them like a game to make them more engaging. Gamification can be used in a range of areas, like business, health, and education.

After recently finishing a PhD in the area of gamification design I decided to put together this website to help make it easy to learn more about gamification.

If you're new to gamification, start your adventure by visiting the lessons page. Otherwise, have a look below for what else is on offer. Enjoy!

Why this site?

Hi, I’m Zac! I'm a gamification educator and designer and I’ve found that even though gamification is an established area of research and business, the concept can still be confusing. After completing a PhD in effective gamification design I figured it's about time that I put together a guide to help address the confusion. Rather than get you to read my entire thesis, I’ve put together this site for you which provides an easier introduction to gamification.

I hope you enjoy Gamification Geek and if you have any feedback or want to get in touch then don’t hesitate to contact me!
